Jerry Jones Pushing Jason Garrett to Give Up Play-Calling Duties
The Dallas Cowboys have shaken up the coaching staff with the firings of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and running backs coach Skip Peete. Now, it looks like owner Jerry Jones is making a push for another change in Big D.
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Jones is pushing for head coach Jason Garrett to give up his play-calling duties.
For Garrett, it doesn’t end there. Mort adds that Jones will also attempt to get Garrett to fire his brother, John, who is the team’s tight ends coach. John Garrett is reportedly calling around the league for some job interviews.
Jones’ motive for Garrett to give up his duties is unknown, but the Cowboys offense did sputter at the start of the season. There is also a belief that Jones could be getting Garrett to relinquish some of his power in order to set up a head coaching change.
A name that continues to surface with Cowboys rumors is ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden.
