Source: Rams to start work on deal



The St. Louis Rams and quarterback Sam Bradford's representatives are scheduled to meet Friday in St. Louis, according to a league source. It is thought to be their first face-to-face meeting since the Rams selected Bradford with the No. 1 overall pick. The two sides spoke before the draft, but could not complete a deal and tabled talks. Whenever Bradford signs -- and nobody expects him to miss much, if any, training camp -- the deal will include the most guaranteed money in an NFL contract.

Deposed Browns quarterback Derek Anderson has strong connections with Arizona and Carolina that could help him get his foot in the door with those teams.


Arizona's director of pro personnel is T.J. McCreight, who was former Browns GM Phil Savage's top aide in Cleveland. The Cardinals are seeking a quarterback to compete with Matt Leinart for the starting job after losing Kurt Warner to retirement.

In Carolina, offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson and quarterbacks coach Rip Scherer were strong advocates of Anderson when they were on the Browns' coaching staff.

Davidson departed the year before Anderson had his Pro Bowl season. Scherer stayed through 2008. The Panthers this week released perennial starter Jake Delhomme and need a veteran to challenge apparent starter-designee Matt Moore.

Also in the market for Anderson could be Buffalo and Seattle.

Coming in: The Browns have declined to confirm the trade for quarterback Seneca Wallace until he passes his physical. Wallace is scheduled to have it on Wednesday. ... The Browns will visit Wednesday with free agent tight end Benjamin Watson, formerly of New England.

Going out: Former Browns safety Brodney Pool left his visit Tuesday in St. Louis without a contract offer, but he has another visit scheduled Wednesday with the New York Jets, ESPN reported.
