Feature: Seahawks taking a look at Redskins' running back

Running back Quinton Ganther, who started two games for the Washington Redskins last season, will visit with Seattle Seahawks management on Wednesday as the team continues looking at possible free-agent additions.

The visit was confirmed by Ganther's agent, David Canter, on his Twitter account.

Ganther, 25, saw limited duty in two seasons with the Tennessee Titans in 2007-08 and then carried 62 times for 201 yards and three touchdowns last year for the Redskins, while also catching nine passes for 99 yards.

He filled in late in the season when the Redskins had numerous backfield injuries and rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns in 14 carries against Oakland in his best game.

But Ganther averaged just 3.2 yards per carry for the season and was not tendered a contract by the Redskins, which makes him an unrestricted free agent.

At 5-foot-9, 214 pounds, he's spent time at both fullback and tailback in his career and is also strong on special teams.

Ganther ran for 1,120 yards as a senior at Utah before being drafted in the seventh round by the Titans in 2005.

The Seahawks last week brought New Orleans Saints running back Mike Bell in for a look, but he continues his free-agency tour and will be in Philadelphia on Tuesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bell is a restricted free agent at the lowest level, meaning the Saints can match any free-agent offers he receives, but no compensation is required if they choose not to match.

Also, the Seahawks have released deep snapper Matt Overton out of Western Washington University. Overton signed with the team in February, but suffered a foot injury. His release leaves Canadian Football League veteran Patrick MacDonald as the only snapper currently under contract.
