 | Feature: Agent: Deal with Williams is done |
Agent Tony Agnone said on Monday that right guard Bobbie Williams has agreed to terms on a two-year deal.
Williams, who will be entering his 11th season, came to the Bengals in 2004 and has played in 95 of a possible 98 games. The only three he missed were due to an emergency appendectomy in 2006. He was the only member of the offensive line last year who started in the same primary position as 2008. Williams had a base salary of $2.4 million last year and will make little less than $3 million per year with the new deal. It should be signed by the end of the week.
At right guard, Williams shored up that side of the line and was one of only seven Bengals to start every game. He was part of a line that produced a team record eight 100-yard games last season and allowed only 29 sacks (ninth least in the league).
While there remain some depth issues at guard, the Bengals do not have to go that way in the first round unless Idaho’s Mike Iupati is the best athlete remaining on the board.
