Gonzalez situation getting interesting
Date: Thursday, July 11 @ 00:16:44 EDT Topic: Chiefs
Will Tony Gonzalez play for the Chiefs next year? Find out what's happening with his attempt to make the NBA.
After Tony Gonzalez, arguably thest tight end in the NFL, graduated to the Heat's summer league team, many are asking is this just a negotiating ploy to force the Chiefs to give him what he wants. At 6-4, and only 26, Gonzalez has taken it upon himself to try and make the NBA while waiting for the Chiefs to give in to his salary demands. But he has publicly stated that his top priority is to play football, and will not be playing in the NBA, if he should make it, this fall unless the Chiefs refuse to negotaite.
Hockman's take: Gonzalez will see how far he can make it in the NBA, but expect to see him in a Chiefs uniform by the last week of training camp at the absolute latest. The Chiefs know that he is their best reciever and thus, should be paid like one. Without TG, the Cheifs passing game is as laughable as the Redskins QB situation.
