Vikings are McNabb's first choice if Eagles trade him

Pioneer Press If the Philadelphia Eagles trade quarterback Donovan McNabb, he would prefer it be to the Vikings, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday, citing sources close to the situation.
And ESPN.com reported that McNabb "has told his friends for weeks" that he wants to reunite with Vikings coach Brad Childress, his former offensive coordinator in Philadelphia.
Citing league sources, ESPN.com said that is partly why Childress recently visited Brett Favre in Mississippi, to get a sense of whether the quarterback wants to return to the Vikings next season or retire after leading Minnesota to the NFC championship game last season.
"Childress did not want to miss an opportunity to trade for McNabb while waiting for Favre to decide whether to come back," ESPN.com reported. "Childress said he asked for and got no assurances from Favre."
Last season, Favre ended his retirement and signed a two-year contract with the Vikings after the first exhibition game. The question is whether the Eagles would wait for the Favre situation to play out. They reportedly want one of this year's top 42 draft choices for McNabb.
Eagles coach Andy Reid said this week that he would listen to offers for all his quarterbacks, and McNabb said he would prefer to remain with the Eagles. McNabb released a statement saying he hoped "whichever direction the Eagles decide to go in, they do it quickly."
Sources told the Inquirer that McNabb, an 11-year veteran, has reservations about playing for a team that isn't close to competing for a championship. This will be the last year of his contract, and rebuilding teams might back away from a deal if they think McNabb will stay only a year.
