Panthers LB Jon Beason told NFL enthusiasts during his chat that there was “no way” that T.O. could play for Carolina. “There’s no way T.O. could be a Panther,” Beason wrote. “Based on the fact that our ownership and coaches believe that the locker room is important and based on T.O.’s history, for whatever reason, he’s been a distraction in the locker room.” That’s a pretty strong statement, considering Panthers WR Steve Smith once broke a teammate’s nose during a training-camp fight. Earlier Thursday, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan made it very clear that he wouldn’t take a chance on T.O. That’s a real slap in the face, considering the Redskins are reinventing the “Over the Hill Gang” by signing a gaggle of veteran running backs, and they also have shown interest in Brian Westbrook. Pat Kirwan recently proposed a contract that would make T.O. an attractive free agent.
